A warrant was issued last week for a Linton man serving time on home detention who allegedly removed his GPS ankle bracelet and left his residence without the permission of Greene County Community Corrections. His whereabouts are unknown.

Ramsey S. Ferree, 23, was convicted in Morgan County on March 21 of possession of methamphetamine, a Level 5 felony, and operating a vehicle while intoxicated, a Class A misdemeanor. He was sentenced to placement in a home detention program for 600 days.

The terms of the detention included being confined to his residence at all times except when working a job or seeking employment, undergoing medical treatment or any other treatment approved by his corrections officer, attending an education institution or program, or attending a religious service at a place of worship.

When Ferree moved to a relative’s residence on J Street NW in Linton, Morgan County Community Corrections requested supervision of his home detention be transferred to Greene County Community Corrections. He was accepted into Greene County supervision on March 27.

In a probable cause affidavit prepared by Greene County Community Corrections Director Lynn Wininger, she explained that on Thursday, July 19, Greene County Community Corrections Field Officer Don Fish received an alert that indicated a tamper to Ferree’s GPS ankle bracelet.

When Officer Fish called the home, Ferree’s grandmother said Ferree was not there and she didn’t know where he was.

Officer Fish and Director Wininger then went to the home where they found the bracelet but not Ferree.

Wininger alleges Ferree violated the rules of home detention by removing the ankle bracelet and leaving the residence without the knowledge or permission of Greene County Community Corrections.

At the time the affidavit was prepared and submitted to the court, the whereabouts of Ferree were unknown.

The next day, a case was filed against Ferree in Greene Superior Court and a warrant issued for his arrest on a preliminary charge of escape involving a violation of home detention, a Level 6 felony.
