Warrant issued for arrest of woman accused of beating man in front of a child
A Bloomfield woman is accused of throwing punch after punch in an altercation on Sunday night with a man while a child was watching. A warrant was issued for her arrest earlier today.
A warrant was issued earlier today for the arrest of Sarah Rachael Goodman, 34, Bloomfield, as a result of an investigation by Deputy Marshall Ryan Montgomery of the the Bloomfield Police Department into an incident that occurred last Sunday night, September 25.
Officer Montgomery responded around 8:25 PM Sunday to a domestic disturbance at a residence on South Seminary Street in Bloomfield where a man said his wife had punched him and then left the scene in a Mazda vehicle with a bicycle rack on the roof. The man said there was a verbal altercation between the two behind their house and that a child less than 16 years old was present and witnessed the altercation.
According to Officer Montgomery, the man said Goodman had left the home a week earlier after it was discovered that she was cheating on him with another man. He said she took personal items and had not been staying at home but came back on Sunday night to visit the child who then saw the altercation.
The man, who was the alleged victim, said the child did not want to go with Goodman that night and then Goodman punched the man 15 to 20 times on the left side of his head near his left cheek and behind his left ear. He said he started to get lightheaded from the punches and that she was using both hands during the attack. He alleged she also grabbed his shirt and caused scratch marks and redness to his chest area and punched him under his left armpit in the rib area causing bruise marks.
Officer Montgomery reported he did observe redness and scratch marks to the man's chest, red bruise marks under his left armpit and rib area and he observed a red bruise to his left cheek when he reviewed his photographs.
Oficer Montgomery spoke to the child/witness who said they saw their mother punch their father in the head six or seven times while they were in the driveway and that their father had his hands up trying to block the punches from Goodman. The witness said Goodman was using both hands with closed fists while punching their father and she was yelling. They also confirmed they did not want to go with their mother that night and they were not sure why the fight started.
Attempts to locate Goodman that night were unsuccessful. Officers from the Linton Police Department were unable to locate her vehicle at the address of family members and Goodman did not answer her phone when Officer Montgomery tried to call her.
A criminal case was filed against Goodman in Greene Superior Court earlier today on a charge of domestic battery committed in the presence of a child less than 16 years old, a Level 6 felony, and a warrant for her arrest was also issued earlier today, Tuesday, September 27.
