A warrant was issued July 19  for a Linton man after forcibly entering a Lyons residence and throwing a flute and dead cat at a woman. 

Paul Vernon Nichols has been charged with residential entry, intimidation, and domestic battery. 

In the early morning hours of July 17, Deputy Camron Frye of the Greene County Sheriff’s Department was dispatched to a North Walnut Street in Lyons regarding a call stating a male, identified as Nichols, had forced his way into a residence and pushed a female. Dispatch advised that Nichols was still on the scene; however, when Deputy Frye arrived, he had left the scene on a motorcycle. 

The victim stated she and Nichols had been involved in a previously reported domestic situation in Linton the day before. She said she asked Nichols not to come over, but he did anyway. She said she stepped outside, closing the door behind her and asked Nichols to leave. She said Nichols pushed her into the door, causing it to open. She said he entered the residence and she again asked him to leave. He said he brought her daughter’s flute and dead cat, then threw the items at her. 

She said Nichols threatened to “f**k her up”, burn her house down, and beat up and kill her landlord. He then exited the residence, hitting her car, which he had damaged the previous day in the incident in Linton, before fleeing the scene via motorcycle. 

A witness at the scene said she heard Nichols pushing the victim against the door, forcibly entering the home. She said she heard Nichols making threats as mentioned by the victim. 

Deputy Michael Coy searched for Nichols in the Switz City area where he was believed to be headed, while Deputy Frye and Reserve Deputy Bobby Just searched in the Linton area. The officers were unable to locate Nichols. 

When arrested, Nichols will be charged with: 

• Residential entry, a Level 6 Felony

• Intimidation, a Level 6 Felony

• Domestic Battery, a Class A Misdemeanor
