UPDATE: After a warrant was issued for her arrest, the Jasonville woman accused of leaving a bag of meth on a store checkout counter was arrested and booked into the Greene County Jail last Thursday, March 2, around 10:12 PM.

Amanda May Harvey, 43, Jasonville, Indiana, was arrested by Jasonville Police Officer Skylar Scott on a warrant issued on a new charge of felony possession of methamphetamine. She was being held without bond pending court appearance. Her initial hearing is scheduled to take place tomorrow (Tuesday) morning.

Wanted: Jasonville woman accused of leaving bag of meth on a store checkout counter

A warrant has been issued for the arrest of a Jasonville woman after she failed to retrieve all her bags from a shopping trip at Family Dollar, leaving a baggie of methamphetamine on the checkout counter. 

When Amanda Harvey visited the Jasonville Family Dollar to pick up some breakfast items on Feb. 27, she left the store and a baggie containing a crystal-like substance sitting on the counter. An employee alerted a manager who then contacted the Jasonville Police Department. Chief Ryan Van Horn field-tested the substance, which returned positive for methamphetamine. 

According to a probable cause prepared by Van Horn, the store manager stated Harvey left the store after the transaction was complete, but returned soon after. At that time, the manager captured photos of Harvey and her vehicle, which were provided to Van Horn. 

Van Horn used the photos to identify the shopper as Harvey and went to her residence to speak with her. According to the probable cause, Harvey told Van Horn she had a friend who needed some “s***”. Based upon his training as a law enforcement officer, Van Horn wrote she was referring to methamphetamine. She alleged she picked up the drugs, then went to the store to grab some breakfast items. 

A warrant has been issued for her arrest on March 1. When served, she will be charged with possession of methamphetamine, a Level 6 Felony.
