The woman who was wanted on a warrant for obstruction of justice and failure to cooperate with a Department of Homeland Security officer has been arrested.

Samantha Nicole Day, 33, Jasonville, was booked into the Greene County Jail at 1:11 p.m. yesterday, Thursday, November 17. Her bond was set at $5000 surety with 10% cash allowed. She posted $500 and was released later the same day.

Day is scheduled to appear in Greene Superior Court for her initial hearing on December 1.

When an officer from the Department of Homeland Security attempted to execute a search warrant for the cell phone of a Greene County woman, she tried to get away from him and escape with her phone. A warrant was issued earlier today for her arrest.

Samantha Nicole Day, 33, Jasonville, is wanted on charges of:  

• Obstruction of justice, a Level 6 felony, and

• Resisting law enforcement – knowingly or intentionally forcibly resisting, a Class A misdemeanor.

Department of Homeland Security Officer Levi Sims arrived at a residence on East Sycamore Street in Jasonville around 6 P.M last Wednesday, November 9, to execute a search warrant that had been issued for Day’s cellular device.

Officer Sims reported that after talking to Day, she started to walk away and he informed her that he had a search warrant for her phone. She allegedly just continued to walk away.

Officer Sims then grabbed the phone that was in Day’s right hand which she had crossed over her body but she pulled away and broke free with the phone and headed to her vehicle.

Officer Sims grabbed her left wrist in an attempt to keep her from getting into her vehicle or escaping and she attempted to pull away from him again but as she tried to get away, Officer Sims was able to get hold of the phone without further incident.

Earlier today, the Greene County Prosecutor’s Office filed a criminal case against Day in Greene Superior Court and the court issued a warrant for Day’s arrest.
