Two women were arrested last week after an employee reported they’d been caught shoplifting numerous items from a store in Linton.

Macendzee Dawn Ramsey, 21, and Lori Ann Ramsey, 42, were arrested by Officer Alan Jackson of the Linton Police Department on Monday night, November 22. They were listed on the jail log with home addresses in Shelburn but court records show Macendzee Ramsey with a home address in Linton.

Officer Jackson was dispatched to the Linton Walmart store around 7:30 p.m. on Monday, November 22, where two women, Macendzee Ramsey and Lori Ramsey, were sitting in the store’s security office. An employee said they had been caught shoplifting. In addition, Lori Ramsey had been previously trespassed from Walmart at their store in Robinson, Illinois, and she was not to trespass at any Walmart store.

When questioned and asked about what had happened, Lori Ramsey allegedly said she was just being stupid. She said she just threw items in a cart and walked out of the store. She allegedly admitted she did not intend to pay for the items.

Mackendzee Ramsey allegedly said she was getting clothes for her kid even though her kid didn’t need any. She said she stuffed items in her purse, including a hoodie, schunchmiez, sleep pants, sleep wear and Tide sticks. She allegedly admitted she did not intend to pay for the items and that she took them because she wanted to.

According to Officer Jackson, the total value of items taken by Lori Ramsey was $141.70 and the total value of items taken by Macendzee Ramsey was $63.09.

Both Ramseys were booked into the Greene County Jail before 9:30 p.m. Macendzee Ramsey’s bond was set at $1,000 surety with ten percent cash allowed. Lori Ramsey’s bond was set at $1,500 surety with ten percent cash allowed. They have both since posted bond and been released.

Macendzee Ramsey appeared in Greene Superior Court yesterday for her initial hearing. She has been charged with theft, a Class A misdemeanor.

Lori Ramsey is scheduled to be in Greene Superior Court on December 6 for her initial hearing when she will be formally charged with criminal trespassing, a Class A misdemeanor, and theft, a Class A misdemeanor.
