Two people were arrested early Tuesday after deputies responded to a domestic dispute in Linton. In court yesterday, both were charged with possession of methamphetamine as well as additional charges.

Michael Edmonson, 29, and Cynthia Beth Colon, 28, both of Linton, were arrested early Tuesday, January 14, by Deputy Michael Coy of the Greene County Sheriff’s Department. Both were initially held without bond pending their appearance in court.

Deputy Coy and GCSD Sgt. Bobby Pierce were dispatched to an apartment on I Street NE in Linton around 1 a.m. on Tuesday, January 14, on the report of a verbal domestic dispute. GCSD Deputy Davis Aerne also responded to assist.

Colon had called 911 and advised her boyfriend, Edmonson, would not leave the property. A dispatcher reported that during the call, they could hear Edmonson in the background threatening to beat Colon.

When the deputies arrived, they met Colon who said she just wanted Edmonson to leave but didn’t want him to get into trouble for walking. During an interview, she explained that she was unable to sleep for hours because Edmonson kept waking her up with disruptive behavior. She said no physical violence occurred, just property damage.

Deputy Coy reported when they talked to Edmonson, he was very upset and remained argumentative. He allegedly told the deputies there were meth pipes and other paraphernalia in the house and told them where to find it. While Edmonson was waiting outside with Deputy Aerne, Edmonson allegedly continued to be argumentative, and neighbors started to come outside to find out what all the yelling was about.

Initially Colon did not agree to a search of the apartment. Deputies then left the residence with Edmonson in custody. He was transported to the Greene County Jail and booked in at 1:57 a.m.

Deputy Coy and Sgt. Pierce then returned to the apartment around 2:22 a.m. after Colon agreed to a search of the residence.

Deputy Coy reported that during the search, they found drug-related items including a razor blade, straws with white residue, glass smoking pipes and several small baggies containing white residue wrapped up in a deposit receipt with Edmonson’s name, as well as a syringe. Several items tested positive for the presence of methamphetamine.

Colon was then taken into custody, transported and booked into jail around 4 a.m.

Both appeared in Greene Superior Court yesterday, Thursday, January 16.

Edmonson has been charged with:

• Possession of methamphetamine, a Level 6 felony,

• Possession of paraphernalia, a Class C misdemeanor,

• Disorderly conduct – engages in fighting or tumultuous conduct, a Class B misdemeanor,

• Intimidation, a Class A misdemeanor, and

• Unlawful possession of a syringe, a Level 6 felony.

Edmonson’s bond was set at $25,000 surety with ten percent cash allowed.

Colon has been charged with:

• Possession of methamphetamine, a Level 6 felony, and

• Possession of paraphernalia, a Class C misdemeanor.

Her bond was set at $4,500 surety with ten percent cash allowed. She has since posted $450 and been released from jail.
