Two drivers injured in Thursday night crash east of Bloomfield
A Thursday night crash involving two vehicles on State Road 54 east of Bloomfield that injured two drivers and shut the highway down for several hours is still under investigation by the Greene County Sheriff’s Department and Indiana State Police.
The crash occurred at 8:55 p.m. on Thursday, July 22, in the area of North Ridgeport Lane on State Road 54.
Mackshane Budd, 43, Sullivan, was the driver of a 2004 Honda Civic that was headed east on SR 54. According to GCSD Deputy William C. Walker, the investigating officer, it appeared that Budd’s vehicle drove left of the center line and hit the oncoming vehicle.
Stacey Knight, 21, Bloomfield, was the driver of a 2013 Chevrolet Cruze that was headed west on SR 54 when Budd’s vehicle drove left of center and hit her vehicle.
Budd was transported by the Greene County Ambulance Service to IU Health Bloomington Hospital.
Knight was transported by IU Health Ambulance Service to IU Health Bloomington Hospital.
No additional information about their injuries or conditions has been released.
No additional information about the crash has been released – it’s still under investigation.
The highway was closed down to traffic for a number of hours while rescue personnel and law enforcement were on scene.
In addition to the Greene County Sheriff’s Department, Indiana State Police and Greene County and IU Health Ambulance Services, personnel were on scene from the Center-Jackson Fire Department, Air Evac and Bill’s Auto.
