A verbal disagreement, followed by a physical altercation resulted in a summons to appear in court on charges of disorderly conduct for two Greene County residents.
According to a probable cause affidavit filed by Jasonville Police Department Officer Douglas Cassel, he was dispatched to a residence where a female claimed she had been battered by a male.
The male, identified as Robert Blaine Smith, of Linton, reported he and the female, Mercedez Sarris, of Switz City, were arguing when Sarris punched him in the mouth. Smith admitted to Officer Cassel that he struck Sarris back, hitting her on the right side of the face. Sarris had slight bleeding and redness on her right cheek according to the officer’s report.
Sarris denied punching Smith, but did admit to pushing him. A witness at the residence said Sarris did not punch Smith; however, she did shove him.
Both Sarris and Smith are being charged with disorderly conduct, a class B misdemeanor and have received summons to appear in Greene Superior Court.
Officer Cassel was assisted at the scene by Deputy Harvey Holt of the Greene County Sheriff’s Department.
