Dawn Marie Johnson, 30, and Joshua Allen Wright, 33, both of Bloomfield, were arrested on Thursday, April 16, by Bloomfield Town Marshal Ken Tharp.

Tharp responded to a residence on South Seminary Street in Bloomfield before 1 p.m. last Thursday to do a welfare check on Johnson after a check on her was requested by an out-of-town caller.

When Tharp talked with her at the door, she said nothing was going on and she was okay. He left the residence but then he got another call.

Around 1:30 p.m., Wright called dispatch to report there was marijuana and paraphernalia in the house and he would let officers do a search. He allegedly said he wanted Johnson arrested.

Tharp returned and when other officers responded to assist, the house was searched with Wright’s permission. They reported finding marijuana and paraphernalia.

Both Johnson and Wright were taken into custody and transported to jail – Johnson was allegedly uncooperative and resisted arrest. In a later interview, she said a physical altercation had taken place before Tharp arrived and that Wright had pushed her down causing her to hit her head on the floor.

Johnson is facing preliminary charges of:

  • Maintaining a common nuisance – controlled substances, a Level 6 felony,

  • Resisting law enforcement – knowingly or intentionally forcibly resists, a Class A misdemeanor, and

  • Possession of marijuana, a Class B misdemeanor.

Wright is facing preliminary charges of:

  • Maintaining a common nuisance – legend drugs, a Level 6 felony, and

  • Possession of marijuana, a Class B misdemeanor.

Both Johnson and Wright have bonded out of jail.

Johnson is scheduled to appear in court for an initial hearing on May 14, Wright on May 11.
