Tuesday afternoon crash claims life of Springville woman

A Springville woman died as a result of the injuries she received in a crash involving two vehicles Tuesday afternoon in the area of US 231 and I-69. Three others were transported to IU Health Bloomington Hospital with injuries.

Greene County Sheriff's Deputy Andrew Weeks, the investigating officer, reported the crash occurred around 3:24 PM on Tuesday, September 6, at the on ramp to I-69 from US 231.

Edna M. Overman, 88, Springville, was the driver of a Hyundai Accent. She was transported to the hospital but was pronounced deceased. She was the only occupant of the Hyundai.

A 64 year old man from Union City, Tennessee, was the driver of a Honda Pilot with two passengers on board, his 65 year old wife and his 90 year old mother-in-law. All three were transported to the hospital. No information has been released about the nature of their injuries or their conditions.

According to Deputy Weeks, the man from Tennessee was traveling south on I-69 but exited at the US 231 exit. He then proceeded to cross US 231 to get back on I-69 when his vehicle was broadsided by Overman’s vehicle that was traveling south on US 231.

No other information has been released. This is an ongoing investigation.

In addition to the Greene County Sheriff's Department, personnel responded to assist on the scene from the Center Township Fire Department and the Greene County Ambulance Service out of Linton and Bloomfield.
