Three Linton residents, all passengers in a vehicle stopped for speeding, were arrested and booked into jail around 1 a.m. today after a K9 alerted to the presence of drugs.

Christopher Eugene Walton, 48, and Kassandra Flick, 25, and Shellie Renee Peltier, 53, all of Linton, were arrested early Wednesday, January 15, by Officer Joe Riley of the Linton Police Department.

A traffic stop was conducted on a beige Toyota Passenger car for allegedly traveling at 41 mph in a 30 mph zone.

LPD Officers John Agan, Adam King and Nick Yingling were on the scene when Officer Riley was asked to assist along with his K9 partner Kona.

The driver was Todd Peltier, 48, of Linton. Christopher Walton, Kassandra Flick and Shellie Peltier were passengers.

While the other officers were conducting the regular business of the traffic stop, Officer Riley deployed K9 Kona for a free air sniff around the vehicle and he reported K9 Kona alerted to the presence of controlled substances.

Officer Riley reported that during a search of the vehicle, officers found a glass smoking pipe in a glasses case on the seat where Walton was sitting. The pipe field-tested positive for the presence of methamphetamine.

They allegedly found a small baggie containing a white crystal-like residue in a purse belonging to Flick. The baggie field-tested positive for the presence of methamphetamine.

They allegedly found a small baggie in a wallet that belonged to Shellie Peltier. The baggie field-tested positive for the presence of methamphetamine.

Officer Riley reported Walton said he had no knowledge about the pipe on the seat but during a search of his person, officers found a digital scale in his pocket. The scale had a white residue which field-tested positive as methamphetamine and then Walton allegedly admitted he knew he had the scale and knew the scale had meth residue.

Both Shellie Peltier and Flick allegedly admitted the other items were theirs or in their possession.

The driver, Todd Peltier, was not found in possession of any illegal substances. He was released on the scene.

Walton, Flick and Shellie Peltier were taken into custody and transported to the Greene County Jail.

Officer Riley was later informed that while booking Walton into jail, a jail officer found Walton in possession of a silver tin container with a baggie that contained a crystal substance which tested positive as methamphetamine.

All three were being held without bond pending their appearance in court.

All three are scheduled to appear in Greene Superior Court tomorrow afternoon, Thursday, January 16.

They are all facing a charge of possession of methamphetamine, a Level 6 felony.
