Around 1:50 p.m. this past Monday afternoon, April 19, Marshal Tharp responded to the Bloomfield Housing Authority, also known as the HighRise, on West Main Street in Bloomfield to a report of an altercation in a foyer.

After speaking to two people who were involved, James and Beth Goodman, and another individual who was a witness, Marshal Tharp was able to view the altercation that was recorded on the building’s video surveillance system. He reported the video shows Robertson waiting for the elevator in the foyer on the second floor. When the elevator door opens, James Goodman is exiting the elevator as Robertson is entering.

Tharp reported it appeared that Robertson leaned in and shoulder bumped Goodman. James Goodman then reached in and stopped the elevator door from closing. Words were exchanged between the two men then Robertson belly-bumped Goodman which started a pushing and shoving match that escalated into punches being thrown between the two.

The commotion attracted the attention of Beth Goodman, James Goodman’s wife, who was in the nearby laundry room. The video showed she attempted to separate the two men as did another witness who was also nearby.

After the two men were separated and the fight was over, Robertson allegedly continued to berate James Goodman. Beth Goodman then allegedly shoved or punched Robertson in the crotch area. Robertson responded by punching Beth Goodman in the face.

Beth Goodman said it hurt when Robertson punched her in the nose. Robertson had lacerations/scrapes on his stomach, back and left shin. James Goodman had lacerations on his face, head and above an eye.

Troy Robertson and Beth Goodman were taken into custody and transported to the Greene County Jail. Robertson was booked in at 2:26 p.m. Beth Goodman was booked in at 3:14 p.m.

James Goodman was transported to a medical facility for treatment of injuries and was not arrested that day.
