An exhibit of photographs by Nick Schneider will be featured at the Carnegie Arts Center in Linton during the month of August. This is not crime news but it’s posted here because several of his pictures are featured on this site, including our home page photo of a “GreeneStreets” back country road in Greene County.  

LINTON- Carnegie Art Center in Linton will feature the photo work and writings of a rural Bloomfield resident during the month of August.

Nick J. Schneider is an award-winning journalist/photographer, blogger and marketing specialist with nearly four decades of professional experience.

His news/feature writing and photo work has been recognized with numerous awards from the National Newspaper Association, The Associated Press, Hoosier Press Association, the Indiana State Teacher's Association, The Indiana Army National Guard and the Greene County 4-H Council.

He is now retired from newspaper work and is doing  extensive exploring with his camera and enjoying some book writing.

The exhibit will feature a collection of vintage barns, wildlife, landscapes and primitives scenes captured mostly from southern Indiana. There will also be a nice selection of inspirational photo prints.

The exhibit will open Friday evening with a reception/Book signing from 5 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. The center will be open 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Tuesday through Saturday throughout the exhibit. The art center is located at 110 East Vincennes Street in Linton.

Schneider's newspaper byline was a familiar one for nearly two decades at the Bloomfield Evening World and the Greene County Daily World, as well as the former Linton Daily Citizen.

Schneider also has worked at newspapers in Haweville and Sturgis in Kentucky, Farmington in Missouri, and Tell City, Seymour, Sullivan, Bicknell, Fort Branch and Princeton in Indiana.

His latest book, “Faith Now” - a 40 day devotional -was published in May.

Schneider’s first book, a faith-based children’s novel, “Decisions, Decisions and More Decisions: Jimbo is Growing Up” was published in December 2014. 

Nick writes a daily blog that appears on BlogSpot, Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, Tumblr and Google+.

A native of Tell City, Ind., Nick enjoys wildlife and nature photography. He has a freelance photography business - NJS Photo Images.

Nick, who lives near Bloomfield,  attends Tulip Church of God. He is involved with Bridging the Gap Ministries, located in Wilson, North Carolina, and serves as volunteer coordinator for Open Arms Christian Ministries, in rural Bloomfield, Ind.

He and his wife, Sharon, are the parents to two daughters, Nicole Byrd and Stacey Brown. The Schneider’s have five grandchildren.
