Teen driver killed in early Sunday morning crash

A 16-year-old male driver lost his life in an early morning crash involving one vehicle on State Road 45, south of I-69. There were no other passengers in the vehicle. The crash is currently under investigation and the name of the driver has not been released.

At 4:22 AM this morning, Sunday, October 9, the Greene County Sheriff's Department got a report of a crash involving one vehicle with a possible injury in the area of South SR 45, one-half mile south of I-69.

GCSD Deputy Michael Stanley, the investigating officer, responded and found a black passenger car with a 16-year-old male driver had left the east side of the road before crashing.

Deputy Stanley reported that the driver was pronounced deceased on the scene and was transported to Greene County General Hospital by the Greene County Ambulance Service.

Deputy Stanley said the investigation is ongoing and no further details were released at the time of this post, early Sunday morning.

In addition to personnel from the Greene County Sheriff's Department and the Greene County Ambulance Service, other personnel responded to assist on the scene from the Center Township Fire Department, the Greene County Coroner's Office and the Indiana State Police.
