The City of Linton lost a devoted servant and U.S. Army veteran Tuesday with the passing of Chuck Botsford.

Born March 5, 1943, he passed away January 18, 2022 at the age of 78.

A veteran of the U. S. Army and a member of the Frank Courtney American Legion Post 22, he worked as an Animal and Code Enforcement Officer for the City of Linton with 25 years of service.

“Chuck took great honor in his role overseeing several American & State flags throughout town. Regardless of weather, Chuck was there to hoist and lower the flags for all of Linton,” according to a post from The Desk of John Wilkes Facebook Page, a page ran by John Wilkes, who serves as the mayor of the City of Linton.

A post from the Linton Police Department’s Facebook page referred to Botsford as a “jack-of-all-trades”.

“Chuck was more than a coworker. He was a fixer, a helper. He would literally do anything he could for any of us. And likely, any of you. Chuck was our brother. He was our friend. We loved Chuck and will miss him forever,” the post said.

In honoring Chuck’s wishes, there will be no public viewing or services.
