Switz City woman arrested for stealing ambulance

A 28-year-old Switz City woman found herself behind bars May 18 after she allegedly stole an ambulance from Greene County General Hospital.

Briauna Shey George-Fisher was arrested on charges of auto theft, a Level 6 Felony and resisting law enforcement using a vehicle, a Level 6 Felony by Linton Police Department Officer Alan Jackson.

According to a probable cause affidavit written by Jackson, he was notified by Linton Dispatch of the stolen ambulance at approximately 1:38 a.m. on May 18. It was reported that the ambulance was last seen driving south on County Road 1000 West toward State Road 54.

Jackson located the stolen ambulance traveling west on A Street Northeast approaching the 12th Street Northeast intersection, according to the probable cause affidavit. Jackson turned his vehicle around in the roadway to get behind the ambulance and activated his emergency lights and sirens. Per the probable cause, the driver—later identified as George-Fisher—failed to stop at the intersection of A Street Northeast and 4th Street Northeast. She finally stopped the ambulance just west of the intersection of A Street Northwest and Main Street.

Jackson approached the ambulance to speak with George-Fisher. According to the probable cause, she admitted to Jackson that she stole the ambulance. She also allegedly admitted she saw Jackson’s vehicle with emergency lights activated behind her. She told Jackson she was scared, which was the reason she didn’t stop the vehicle.

She was transported to Greene County Jail where her bond was set at $8,000 surety with 10% cash allowed.

She is scheduled to appear in Greene Superior Court on May 21.
