Switz City man arrested last weekend on a warrant, and for meth

A Switz City man who already had one case involving meth possession pending against him, as well as a warrant out for his arrest, is now facing new charges of meth possession.

Lowell Emmons Harroll Jr.

Lowell Emmons Harroll, Jr., 54, Switz City, was arrested by Officer Bobby Pierce of the Linton Police Department late last Saturday, June 19.

Harroll was driving a white 1998 Nissan Pathfinder in Linton last Saturday night when Officer Pierce saw him and knew his driver’s license was suspended and that he had a warrant out for his arrest for failure to appear in court for a hearing in a meth case. A traffic stop was conducted at the intersection of State Road 54 and County Road 100 North.

Harroll was immediately detained on the warrant and during a search of his person, Officer Pierce allegedly located a clear glass smoking device with a white/burnt residue in Harroll’s “hammer loop” pocket. The smoking device field-tested positive for the presence of methamphetamine.

When LPD Officer Joe Riley arrived with his K9 partner Kona, the K9 alerted on the driver’s side door of Harroll’s vehicle. Officer Pierce reported that during a search of the vehicle, he located a silver tin with the initials “JR” which is a nickname of Harroll. Directly next to the tin was a small zip bag containing a white crystal substance that field-tested positive as methamphetamine. Officer Riley located a small silver spoon containing white residue.

Harroll said the tin box belonged to him but he denied knowing anything about the meth and he denied ever possessing methamphetamine. He allegedly said the officers had set him up.

Harroll was booked into the Greene County Jail at 11:52 p.m. He was first held without bond pending court appearance.

Yesterday afternoon, Tuesday, June 22, when Harroll appeared in Greene Superior Court for his initial hearing, he was charged with:

  • Possession of methamphetamine, a Level 6 felony,

  • Possession of paraphernalia, a Class C misdemeanor, and

  • Driving while suspended – a knowing violation with a prior conviction within 10 years.

His bond was set at $20,000 surety with ten percent cash allowed, but he has not posted bond.

In the pending case that had an outstanding warrant, Harroll had been charged with possession of methamphetamine as a Level 6 felony, and misdemeanor possession of paraphernalia. Harroll has now been advised that his bond in the pending case has been revoked as of yesterday, June 22. He remains in custody in the Greene County Jail.
