Switz City man accused of felony breaking and entering and strangulation
A Switz City man is facing charges of felony breaking and entering, and strangulation, after deputies responded to a domestic incident last Wednesday night.
James Gregory Peters, 34, Switz City, was arrested by Deputy Kelly Hutchens of the Greene County Sheriff’s Department last Wednesday night, October 13.
Deputy Michael Coy, the investigating officer, and Deputy Hutchens were dispatched around 5:40 p.m. last Wednesday to a residence after a woman said her “ex” James Peters had showed up at her house and when he tried to get in, she didn’t get the door shut fast enough. She said she had bruises all over and that Peters grabbed her arms, hit her in the head and attempted to strangle her.
Peters had already left the scene by the time the deputies arrived, but the woman explained when she went to his residence earlier in the day, they had an argument and he busted a mirror on her truck and punched dents into a fender. She said he then came to her residence later and battered her.
When the deputies located Peters at his residence, he confirmed the two had an argument earlier in the day but he denied going to the woman’s residence and said he had not touched the woman.
Peters was taken into custody and booked into the Greene County Jail at 8:06 p.m. His bond was set at $10,000 surety with ten percent cash allowed. As of late Monday, October 18, he had not yet posted bond and remained in custody.
Peters is facing charges of:
Residential entry – breaking and entering a dwelling, a Level 6 felony,
Strangulation, a Level 6 felony,
Battery resulting in bodily injury, a Class A misdemeanor, and
Criminal mischief, a Class B misdemeanor.
