Multiple deputies and officers from three departments responded early last Monday to a 911 call from a woman who said a man threatening to kill her was beating on her door and a dispatcher could hear glass breaking in the background.

Edward “Eddie” Dawune Beegle, 52, Shelburn, was arrested by Deputy Camron Frye of the Greene County Sheriff’s Department early Monday, January 31.

Around 4:05 a.m. that morning, Greene County Dispatch got a 911 call from a woman who said Eddie Beegle was at her door with a gun trying to kill her. She said Beegle was banging on the door and she was scared. A dispatcher could hear glass breaking in the background and the woman said Beegle had shot through a window.

Deputy Frye, the investigating officer, was dispatched to the woman’s residence on North State Road 59. Officers who responded to assist included GCSD Deputy Devan Goad, Jasonville Police Officer Dustin Cain and Linton Police Officers Bobby Pierce, Alan Jackson and Zach Goad.

While all those officers were enroute, dispatch advised Beegle had left the residence in a green Dodge Ram truck but the woman believed Beegle was going to return.

Officer Cain, who was first to arrive on the scene, told the woman and another man inside the residence to lock the doors while he looked for the Dodge Ram. When Officer Zach Goad and Deputy Frye arrived, Officer Cain arrived back on scene and Deputy Frye saw a window had been broken.

When talking to Deputy Frye, the woman said Beegle had followed her home earlier and she “let it go” because her mother is usually there and she told Beegle he had to leave so she could pick her kids up. She said Beegle got upset and threatened to bust out her windshield and that he broke everything in her bedroom – a mess she’d already cleaned up. When another male friend dropped by the residence for a short while, she said Beegle “flipped out” and broke things.

The woman said when Beegle finally left, she drove to Casey’s General Store and was hoping to run into a Jasonville police officer, but she ran into another male friend and asked him to stay with her because she was scared. She said everything was fine for about an hour and then she heard Beegle’s truck. She said Beegle then started beating on the windows and doors and said, “You better come out or it’s going to be it.” Then they heard the glass breaking before he left.

The man who was at the residence with her then told an officer that Beegle was at the woman’s grandmother’s residence in Clay County where her children were and the woman became very emotional when she heard that information. Deputy Goad, Officer Cain and the LPD officers then left to go to the grandmother’s residence to try and locate Beegle.

While they were gone, the woman explained to Deputy Frye how she had gotten involved with Beegle but now could not get away from him and that he won’t leave her alone. She alleged he threatens her and threatens to kill her family. There was a no trespassing order against Beegle at the time this incident occurred.

Before long, the officers who had left to locate Beegle advised they had him detained and would be transporting him to jail.

Deputy Frye reported that during a later interview with Beegle at the jail, he said he thought the no trespassing order was only for one night. He confirmed he had knocked on the woman’s door and admitted he did yell for her but he said nothing else happened. Beegle denied making any threats and said he didn’t break a window because he’d have to replace it. He also said he doesn’t own any firearms.

Beegle allegedly said he went to the woman’s family member to let him into the residence because there was a man inside who was in there shooting the woman up with morphine. Beegle also stated he was at the residence frequently and the electricity was in his name but he did not own the property.

Beegle was booked into jail at 6:12 a.m. with bond set at $5,500 surety with ten percent cash allowed. He posted $550 and was released later the same day.

A criminal case was filed against Beegle in early February and on Monday, February 7, when he appeared in Greene Superior Court for his initial hearing, he was charged with:

• Intimidation – threat to commit a forcible felony, a Level 6 felony,

• Criminal trespassing, a Class A misdemeanor,

• Criminal mischief, a Class B misdemeanor.
