Sullivan man charged with residential entry in Bloomfield
A Sullivan man arrested last Friday has been charged with breaking and entering a dwelling in Bloomfield.
John Tyron Keys, 53, Sullivan, was arrested by Deputy Terry Wade of the Greene County Sheriff’s Department last Friday, November 13.
Deputy Wade was dispatched last Friday around 1:06 p.m. to a residence on Mechanic Street in Bloomfield after a woman called 911 and said Keys had broken into the residence and was intoxicated.
When Deputy Wade arrived, along with GCSD Det. Shawn Cullison and Deputy Jordan Allor, and knocked on the door, a witness opened the door and Deputy Wade saw Keys sitting on the couch. Keys was told to exit the residence and walk out to the other deputies. Deputy Wade noted Keys was staggering as he walked.
The caller was not at home at the time of the incident but two children were. One said there was a knock on the door and when he answered it, he wasn’t going to let Keys in but Keys put his hands on his shoulders and moved him out of the way then sat down on the couch.
Deputy Wade learned the two were trying to give Keys hints to leave and that they did not want him there. They said they felt uncomfortable and scared.
Keys allegedly said he was invited in and denied putting hands on anyone. He said they didn’t tell him to leave and that he had just stopped by to say “Hi” because he had not been in Bloomfield for a long time.
Keys was taken into custody and booked into the Greene County Jail at 2 p.m. His bond was set at $4,000 surety with ten percent cash allowed but as of Wednesday night, he has not yet posted bond and remains in jail.
When Keys appeared in Greene Superior Court yesterday afternoon, November 17, he was charged with residential entry – breaking and entering a dwelling, a Level 6 felony.
