Glen Eric Grove, 62, Sullivan, was arrested by Officer Janzen Franklin of the Linton Police Department during a traffic stop late last Sunday night, December 20. Grove was booked into the Greene County Jail early Monday, December 21.

Shortly before midnight Monday night, Officer Franklin, the investigating officer, was on patrol with LPD Officer John Agan, traveling behind a black 2005 Chevrolet Silverado eastbound on A Street NE in Linton. When the Silverado made a turn into the parking lot of the Park Inn and failed to signal the turn, Officer Franklin initiated a traffic stop.

During the stop, Grove was identified as the driver and LPD Officer Joe Riley and his K9 partner Kona arrived to assist. When the K9 was deployed for a free air sniff around the vehicle, the K9 alerted to the presence of a controlled substance in the Silverado.

Officer Franklin reported that during a search, he located a digital scale with a white powder residue that field tested positive as methamphetamine. He also located a cloth shoulder bag that contained $2,385 in cash.

Grove denied knowing the digital scale was in the Silverado and said he frequently keeps large amounts of cash in his vehicle. He said he had recently cashed several paychecks and Officer Franklin reported there were multiple paycheck stubs in the vehicle.

Officer Franklin said Grove was convicted of possession of methamphetamine in 2017 in Greene County and he currently has a case pending against him in Sullivan County on a charge of possession of methamphetamine.

Grove was being held without bond pending court appearance – date unknown.

He is facing a preliminary charge of possession of methamphetamine, a Level 6 felony.
