Sullivan County: One dead in Saturday afternoon ATV crash near Hymera
SULLIVAN COUNTY, IN - On Saturday afternoon, Sullivan County Sheriff’s dispatch was notified around 4 PM of an ATV accident in a wooded area west of Hymera. Upon arrival emergency crews discovered the driver had passed away as a result of his injuries. As of early Monday, the name of the deceased had not been released.
The incident appeared to be a tragic accident, with no indications of foul play. Because the accident involved an off-road vehicle, Sheriff Clark Cottom summoned Indiana Conservation Officers, who are now the lead agency in the investigation.
Agencies assisting at the scene included Sullivan County Sheriff’s Office, Hymera and Shelburn Town Marshals, Jackson Township fire department and Sullivan County Ambulance. The Sullivan County Coroner was also on the scene.
