A woman is accused of taking items out of boxes and stashing them in her shirt pocket as she walked around a store in Bloomfield. The manager called police and an officer arrived as the woman was walking out of the store.

Nancy Lorene Williams, 54, Bloomfield, was arrested by Deputy Marshal Jordan Allor of the Bloomfield Police Department last Friday evening, March 2.

Officer Allor was dispatched to CVS Pharmacy on US 231 South in Bloomfield about a shoplifter and when he arrived, he saw Williams leaving the store followed by the store manager. Allor said he noticed Williams had a bulge in her front shirt pocket.

Allor reported Williams had several items inside her pocket but she only paid for one item. She had a receipt for it.

When Allor spoke to the manager, he said he watched as Williams walked around the store taking items out of boxes and putting them in her shirt. Using his cell phone, the manager took a video of her doing this and he provided that to the officer.

Allor told the manager Williams had the cash to pay for the items and was willing to pay for them, but the manager said he wanted her to be charged with theft.

Allor noted Williams has a total of eight prior convictions for theft or conversion.

Williams was handcuffed and transported to the Greene County Jail where her bond was set at $5,000 surety with ten percent cash allowed. She posted $500 cash and was released on Saturday, March 2.

Williams is scheduled to appear in Greene Superior Court for her initial hearing on Thursday, March 14 when she will be formally charged with theft – defendant has a prior conviction for either theft or conversion, a Level 6 felony .
