Stolen vehicle pursuit ends in arrest after OnStar disables car
/A man is in custody after a stolen vehicle was recovered at approximately 1:20 p.m. on March 12 after traveling through Greene County.
According to a news release from the Greene County Sheriff’s Department, authorities received information about the vehicle from Monroe County. The vehicle was reported to be traveling westbound on State Road 58 in Greene County.
Deputies from the Greene County Sheriff’s Department located the vehicle on State Road 58 near U.S. 231. According to the release, the vehicle traveled south on U.S. 231 into Daviess County. Once in Daviess County, the vehicle began to swerve into oncoming traffic. Deputies initiated a traffic stop, but the driver refused to stop and continued south on U.S. 231.
The vehicle, which was equipped with OnStar, was disabled by the service. The driver exited the vehicle and was taken into custody, according to the release.
The driver, who was wanted on a warrant from Illinois for possession of a stolen vehicle, was transported to Monroe County.
Assisting the Greene County Sheriff’s Department were the Daviess County Sheriff’s Department, Loogootee Police Department, Martin County Sheriff’s Department and Bloomfield Police Department.
