The year 2022 had just begun when deputies checked into a report of underage drinking and loud music. A teen driver trying to leave when they got there was stopped and ended up in the Greene County Jail for OVWI and underage possession of alcohol.  

Ashlee Jo Whitfield, 18, Solsberry, was arrested by Deputy Devan Goad of the Greene County Sheriff’s Department early on Saturday, January 1, 2022.

Shortly after the year 2022 began last Saturday, GCSD got a report of underage drinking and loud music coming from a residence on East Furnace Road, Bloomfield. When Reserve Deputies Richard Colvin and Robert Just arrived, a black 2010 Kia Optima was backing out of the driveway to leave but the deputies advised the driver and a juvenile passenger to shut the Kia off and get out of the vehicle.

Ashlee Whitfield was the driver and when Deputy Goad, the investigating officer, arrived and talked to Ashlee, he reported the odor of an alcoholic beverage coming from her breath and she showed signs of intoxication including red, watery eyes and poor balance. She allegedly said she had not been drinking. A portable breath test indicated otherwise and although she passed one part of standard field sobriety testing on the scene, she failed the others.

After she was transported to the sheriff’s department, test results were the same but she agreed to take a chemical test which showed she had a blood alcohol content of .130. The legal limit is .08.

Whitfield was booked into the Greene County Jail at 1:28 a.m. with bond set at $4,500 surety with ten percent cash allowed. She posted $450 and was released later the same day.

When Whitfield appears in Greene Superior Court for her initial hearing on January 13, she’ll be facing charges of:

• Operating a vehicle while intoxicated, a Class C misdemeanor,

• Operating a vehicle with an alcohol concentration equivalent to at least .08 but less than .15, a Class C misdemeanor, and

• Minor in possession of alcohol, a Class C misdemeanor.
