Solsberry man arrested, accused of possession of methamphetamine

Driving with a license plate borrowed from a friend led to a traffic stop for a Solsberry man. The deputy said he smelled pot coming from the car and reported he also found meth in the vehicle.

Leslie Edgar Corbin Jr.

Leslie Edgar Corbin, Jr., 28, of Solsberry, was arrested by Deputy Jordan Allor of the Greene County Sheriff’s Department on Tuesday evening, May 19.

Deputy Allor was traveling behind a blue Chevrolet Caprice northbound on State Road 43 near Flat Bridge Lane when he checked the license plate on the Caprice and dispatch advised him the plate belonged to a 2004 Kia. Deputy Allor conducted a traffic stop.

Corbin allegedly said he had just recently bought the car and he borrowed the plate from a friend. He also said he didn’t have a driver’s license and did not have a bill of sale or a title in the vehicle. When he handed his identification card to the deputy, the deputy asked him to step outside the vehicle and told Corbin he could smell marijuana coming from the car. Corbin allegedly admitted he had marijuana between the two front seats and a couple of roaches in a pocket.

Deputy Allor reported finding a baggie of marijuana in one of Corbin’s pockets and in the car, more than one smoking device and a small baggie containing a white powder residue that field-tested positive as methamphetamine. He also found a silver spoon containing burnt residue and a few other items.

Deputy Allor was assisted on the scene by GCSD Deputies Alan Jackson and Michael Coy.

Corbin was booked into the Greene County Jail around 9:14 p.m. He was being held without bond pending his appearance in court.

The date of his initial hearing has not been set but he is facing preliminary charges of:

  • Possession of methamphetamine, a Level 6 felony,

  • Possession of marijuana, a Class B misdemeanor, and

  • Possession of paraphernalia, a Class C misdemeanor.
