After deputies responded last Saturday night to a report of a broken down vehicle and a woman screaming in the parking lot of a business in Bloomfield, the woman wound up in jail.

Kaila Danielle Stamper, 31, Bloomington, was arrested by Deputy William C. Walker of the Greene County Sheriff’s Department on Saturday, July 17.

Around 5:30 p.m., Deputy Walker was dispatched to the parking lot of the Dairy Queen in Bloomfield after a caller reported a vehicle was broken down there and a woman was screaming and hitting someone in the vehicle.

The vehicle was a Toyota Rav 4 with its hood up. The woman was Kaila Stamper who identified herself as “Stephanie Miller.” That didn’t work because the deputy recognized Stamper from a previous incident back in May. Deputy Walker said Stamper kept trying to walk away from him while he was talking to her. She was wanted on a warrant issued on a petition to revoke her bond in another drug case involving methamphetamine, a narcotic drug and a syringe. She was taken into custody and handcuffed.

While that was going on, GCSD Sgt. Jordan Allor, who was assisting on the scene, talked to Bradley McNees who had been standing next to the vehicle, possibly working on it. When McNees reached into Stamper’s purse in the vehicle, Sgt. Allor noticed and took possession of a syringe.

During a search of the vehicle, inside Stamper’s purse, officers reported finding a small zip bag containing a white powder residue that field-tested positive as methamphetamine, and another syringe.

McNees said he did not know the syringe or the meth was in Stamper’s purse.

Stamper said the syringe and the meth belonged to McNees.

McNees was released from the scene after he was advised that information about the incident would be submitted to the prosecutor’s office.

Stamper was booked into the Greene County Jail at 6:52 p.m. She’s being held without bond.
