Screaming and kicking adult man goes to jail
Continued loud and unruly behavior combined with a refusal to obey officers resulted in the June 20 arrest of a 33-year-old Linton man.
When Greene County Sheriff’s Department Deputy Kelly Hutchens and Linton Police Department Officers Alan Jackson and Janzen Franklin arrived on the scene of a domestic disturbance late in the evening of June 19, officers found Alejandro Garcia walking on the front porch of the residence, talking loudly – so loudly it could disturb the neighborhood.
Officers attempted to talk to the man, later identified as Alejandro Garcia, but he refused to cooperate with officers. He threatened to leave the scene, stating officers wouldn’t be able to catch him. He also stated he would “head dive” off the porch. He also said threatening things to officers, such as “I hate all you f***ers”.
While attempting to talk with Garcia on the porch, officers noticed the smell of burnt marijuana and requested permission to search the home. Permission was denied; therefore, a search warrant was requested.
While waiting for approval of the search warrant, Officer Jackson asked Deputy Michael Stanley of the Greene County Sheriff’s Department to transport Garcia to the Linton Police Department. While deputies Stanley and Hutchens were walking Garcia to Hutchens’ vehicle, he began to speed walk as if he was trying to get ahead of the officers. Officers asked him to slow down, but he continued walking fast.
The officers placed Garcia in the back of Hutchens’ patrol vehicle and buckled him in. Before Hutchens could move her vehicle, Garcia unbuckled himself. Deputy Stanley informed him he needed to keep the buckle on; however, Garcia said he was going to undo the buckle every time officers closed the door.
At this time, Officer Franklin informed Hutchens and Stanley the search warrant had been approved. Instead of transporting him to the police department, Hutchens moved her vehicle, with Garcia in it, into the driveway of the home to keep an eye on him while inside the home.
While standing on the porch, she reported she could hear him yelling loudly from inside the vehicle. When she asked Garcia why he was yelling, he acted as if he didn’t know what she was talking about. When she returned to the porch, she could hear him kicking the inside of her vehicle. When she asked him about it, again, he acted as if he didn’t know what she was talking about.
Garcia was kicking the interior of the vehicle, screaming and cursing when Sergeant Bobby Pierce of the Linton Police Department arrived on scene. Pierce told Garcia to stay calm and stop kicking things. Garcia asked Pierce if he was going home or going to jail to which Pierce responded he didn’t know because he would not calm down long enough to allow him to speak with the officers executing the search warrant. After Pierce shut the door, Garcia began kicking it again. It was then Deputy Stanley informed Garcia he was going to jail.
He was arrested by Deputy Hutchens and transported to Greene County Jail with bond set at $1,000 surety with 10 percent cash allowed.
He was charged with:
Refusal to aid an officer, a Class B Misdemeanor
Disorderly Conduct, engages in fighting or tumultuous conduct, a Class B Misdemeanor
