Reckless driver under the influence of medication and marijuana arrested and charged with multiple counts
/Driving recklessly and failing to stop for an officer resulted in a multiple charge arrest of a 44-year-old Solsberry woman.
Crystal Gail Axsom was arrested by Greene County’s Sheriff’s Department Sergeant Jordan Allor Nov. 27 on charges of resisting law enforcement with the use of a vehicle, operating a vehicle while intoxicated endangering a person, operating a vehicle while intoxicated, operating a vehicle with a Schedule I or II controlled substance or its metabolite in the body, criminal recklessness, possession of marijuana, and possession of paraphernalia.
Allor responded to a call regarding Axsom in which the caller stated she had consumed medication and was driving recklessly. Allor headed to the area in which Axsom was reported to be driving. When turning onto McVille Road, he observed a gray 2018 Jeep Wrangler with green decals, the vehicle Axsom was reportedly driving, pass him traveling east. Allor turned his patrol car around in a driveway to catch up with Axsom. Allor activated his emergency red and blue lights to conduct a traffic stop.
Axsom continued traveling north on North State Road 43 disregarding Allor’s emergency lights. Allor advised dispatch the vehicle was not stopping, so he activated the sirens and started shining his spotlight into the back window of the Jeep. Axsom continued driving for approximately one mile before pulling into and coming to a stop at the Hendricksville Area Association.
When Allor had Axsom exit the car, she asked what she had done wrong. Allor told her she did not stop when he activated his emergency lights and sirens. She reportedly told Allor she was trying to find a safe place to pull over; however, Allor said she passed several areas where she could have pulled over safely prior to where she pulled in.
When Allor checked her for weapons, he could smell the odor of marijuana coming from her clothing. He asked if she had marijuana in her possession, which she allegedly admitted. She told Allor it was located in her purse.
Deputy Sipes of the Greene County Sheriff’s Department assisted Allor in searching Axsom’s vehicle. During the search, green plant-like material that later field tested positive for marijuana, was located. While Allor transported Axsom to Greene County Jail, Deputy Sipes continued the search of the vehicle and found more marijuana and a glass smoking device.
Once at the sheriff’s department, Allor asked Axsom if she had taken any medication. She admitted to taking a controlled substance she had a prescription for; however, she took more than was prescribed.
After being cleared at Greene County General Hospital, Axsom was booked into Greene County Jail.
Allor and Sipes were also assisted at the scene by Deputy Logan Milligan of the Greene County Sheriff’s Department.
Axsom’s bond was set at $9,000 surety with 10 percent allowed.
She appeared in Greene Superior Court on Nov. 29 where she was formally charged with:
Resisting law enforcement with the use of a vehicle, a Level 6 Felony
Operating a vehicle while intoxicated endangering a person, a Class A Misdemeanor
Operating a vehicle while intoxicated, a Class C Misdemeanor
Operating a vehicle with a Schedule I or II controlled substance or its metabolite in the body, a Class C Misdemeanor
Criminal recklessness, a Class B Misdemeanor
Possession of marijuana, a Class B Misdemeanor
Possession of paraphernalia, a Class C Misdemeanor
