Local law enforcement agencies coming together for National Night Out
Plans are underway to promote police-community partnerships through a night of fun, free activities at this year’s National Night Out.
National Night Out is set from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. on Aug. 1 in Linton’s Humphreys Park.
According to a letter from the Greene County National Night Out Committee, the event is one of the largest in Greene County. The event represents law enforcement from across Greene County. Last year, the event drew a crowd of nearly 4,000 people.
“It gives families a reason to get out and enjoy a day of free fun while interacting with law enforcement, as well as other public safety agencies and businesses who are involved in their community,” according to the letter.
Linton Police Department Chief Paul Clark encourages businesses and organizations to participate in this year’s event.
“Businesses and organizations can get involved by becoming a partner – whether that’s financially supporting the program or setting up a booth and interacting with the community,” Clark said, noting financial contributions will help purchase prizes for the event.
Donation and booth forms can be obtained by emailing nno@lintonpolice.com or via a link on the Linton Police Department’s Facebook page. Forms are due at the police department by July 25.
“The primary goal of National Night Out is to build relationships with law enforcement and other public safety employees in the community to show our communities that we support one another and to show the criminal element that the community is willing to work with police to combat crime,” Clark said.
In addition to law enforcement, one can expect to see fire departments, public safety employees, ambulance employees, and more at this year’s event.
