Probation check results in arrest
When a probation officer conducted a check at the home of a man on probation, the officer reported seeing some syringes lying on the floor and called a deputy to investigate.
Dennis Michael Hill III, 39, of Bloomfield, was convicted of possession of methamphetamine, a Level 6 felony, on May 2, 2018. He was sentenced to one year and 180 days but one year and 90 days were suspended. He served his time and was on probation when Greene County Probation Officer Patrick Hillenberg conducted a check at Hill’s residence on Tuesday morning, September 17.
Hillenberg reported he located some syringes in the home and needed them to be tested. He requested a deputy and Det. Shawn Cullison of the Greene County Sheriff’s Department responded to meet with Hillenberg and Community Correction Officer Andrew Johnson at Hill’s home on 11th Street in Bloomfield.
Det. Cullison reported he found numerous syringes, some with fluid in them, and small zip lock bags with a white powder residue, and that a field test on one of the bags and on the fluid resulted in a positive for the presence of methamphetamine.
Det. Cullison said when he talked to Hill, Hill said the items were old, had been there for a while and could not have tested positive and that they had never had meth in them.
Hill was taken into custody and booked in to the Greene County Jail around 10:40 a.m.
Hill then appeared in Greene Superior Court last week for an initial hearing in a new case and was charged with possession of methamphetamine, a Level 6 felony, and unlawful possession of a syringe, a Level 6 felony.
