The Linton Police Department has asked for help from the public to locate a suspect in a home burglary that’s considered to be “armed and dangerous.” But the LPD is not the only agency looking for 23-year-old Marion “Tanner” Haywood. A warrant for his arrest was issued earlier today in Monroe County where he’s accused of battery with a deadly weapon, strangulation and kidnapping.   

The Linton Police Department posted their first request for information on their Facebook page yesterday, Wednesday, May 27, following an incident that had occurred earlier in the day.

Early today, Thursday, May 28, LPD Chief Paul Clark confirmed that officers are still seeking information on Haywood’s whereabouts and he said they had received a few tips and were following up.

Chief Clark said anyone with information about Haywood’s location is asked to contact the LPD at 812-847-4411 or Greene County CrimeStoppers at 812-TIP-LINE. CrimeStoppers is offering a reward for information and the caller can remain anonymous.

Chief Clark cautioned that Haywood is considered armed and dangerous and he asked that people should not approach or confront him but if seen, notify police.

Marion Tanner Joseph Haywood is 23 years old. He is generally known by the name Tanner Haywood. According to court records, Haywood’s home address is on East Mineral-Koleen Road, Owensburg.

In addition to being a suspect in a home burglary, Haywood is facing charges in incidents that occurred in Monroe County within the last week.

The preliminary charges include:

• Domestic battery by means of a deadly weapon, a Level 5 felony,

• Domestic battery with a previous conviction of battery against the same victim, a Level 5 felony,

• Strangulation, a Level 6 felony,

• Kidnapping, committed by using a vehicle, a Level 5 felony,

• Auto theft – theft of entire automobile, a Level 6 felony, and

• Unlawful possession of a firearm by a domestic batterer, a Class A misdemeanor.

The prosecutor has given notice of intent to seek an enhanced penalty in the case due to a prior conviction.

According to court records, a warrant was issued for Haywood’s arrest early this morning out of Monroe Circuit Court 2 and the judge specified that his bond will be set at $100,000 surety plus $1,000 cash.
