A 28-year-old Linton man was arrested Aug. 26 following two preliminary felony battery against a public official charges after incidents including throwing sharp objects at a hospital security officer and biting a police officer, and more. 

Linton Police Department Officer Cayden Walker responded to a call at Greene County General Hospital on Aug. 25 regarding a patient, later identified as Andrew Raymond Macias, acting combative and throwing sharp items at Dillion Roark, a public safety security office at the hospital.

When arriving at the hospital, Walker asked Macias what was going on to which he responded, “I want out of here. I don’t want to be in a d**m hospital.” Walker informed Macias he didn’t have a choice as an immediate detention form had been filled out. 

Macias asked to have a cigarette but Walker informed him he could not have one while inside the hospital and was not allowed to go outside of the hospital to have one. According to the probable cause affidavit written by Walker, Macias stood up in bed, stuck his arms out and said “then arrest me”. 

As Macias walked toward Walker, the officer advised him he would be restrained if he did not sit down. He told Walker no. Macias drew his right hand behind him in an attempt to strike Walker. Walker blocked Macias’s punch with his left arm. While Macias continued to attempt to strike Walker, the officer was able to get Macias to the ground, attempting to get him under control. Once on the ground and attempting to detain him, he bit Walker’s arm near his elbow, breaking the skin. Macias was advised to stop resisting, but he continued to fight and bite Walker. Walker used his department issued taser to deliver a stun to Macias’s stomach. Macias released the bite he had on Walker’s arm and turned over on his stomach. 

During the altercation with Macias, he ripped Walker’s radio off his vest causing the right shoulder strap to be ripped off. The radio mic was undone after the strap in his outer carrier was ripped. 

After Macias was placed in handcuffs, Walker spoke with Roark. Roark told Walker Macias was throwing items in his room and he went into the room to attempt to calm him down. When Roark walked into the room, Macias threw a biohazard trash can at him and the trash can struck him in the left side of the face. 

Per hospital policy, Walker’s bite wound was treated and cleared by hospital staff.

After being cleared by hospital staff, Macias was transported to Greene County Jail Aug, 26. His bond was set at $8500 surety with 10% cash allowed. Linton Police Officer Cayden Walker was the arresting officer.

He is facing two preliminary charges of battery against a public safety official, each a level 6 felony.
