Officers say Bloomfield man had meth in his pocket
When officers served an arrest warrant on a Bloomfield man on Tuesday, he got a pat-down for weapons before he headed to jail. He didn’t have any weapons, but officers say he had meth in his pocket.
Aaron Patrick Lynch, 34, Bloomfield, was arrested by Deputy Camron Frye of the Greene County Sheriff’s Department on Tuesday, July 16, and booked into the Greene County Jail around 7:44 p.m.
Lynch was on probation following a conviction of public intoxication with endangerment, a Class B misdemeanor, when a petition to revoke his suspended sentence was filed in mid-June for an alleged violation of a condition of his probation. A warrant was issued for his arrest on June 14.
On Tuesday, July 16, Deputy Frye went to an area of Bloomfield known as “Hashtown” to serve the warrant on Lynch. GCSD David Elmore and Bloomfield Police Officer Jordan Allor also went to assist on the scene.
Officers located Lynch in the garage, along with a friend, and Lynch was given time to write down some information and instructions for his family before going to jail.
When Lynch was searched prior to being transported, Deputy Elmore reported finding a white crystal-like substance wrapped in multiple small clear baggies in one of Lynch’s pockets.
Deputy Frye said Lynch told them it was just trash but when he took it to Officer Allor’s vehicle for a field test, he said it tested positive as methamphetamine.
The substance will be sent to the Indiana State Police Labs for confirmation.
Lynch is being held without bond pending his appearance in court, scheduled for Monday, July 22, for an initial hearing on a preliminary charge of possession of methamphetamine, a Level 6 felony. He will also appear for a hearing on Monday in the misdemeanor case.
