When the suspect in a strangulation and battery incident refused to answer his door and talk to officers, a search warrant was issued. An officer kicked the door in and the suspect was taken into custody.

William Douglas Major, 36, Bloomfield, was arrested by Deputy Marshal Wayman JR Blazier of the Bloomfield Police Department early this past Sunday, November 29.

Around 3 a.m. Sunday morning, officers responded to a call from the bartender at the Spot Lounge on East Main Street in Bloomfield who reported Major was unruly and was refusing to leave the premises.

Sgt. Bobby Pierce of the Greene County Sheriff’s Department arrived first followed by BPD Officer Blazier. Major had left by the time they arrived but a woman told the officers that Major, her boyfriend, had grabbed her by the throat and picked her up by the throat, choking her and causing her to have trouble breathing. Officers reported she had redness and bruising around her neck. Two other individuals who were in the bar at the time said they did not see the incident but they heard the commotion.

When Officer Blazier and Sgt. Pierce went to the residence of Major, nobody answered the door but from the sidewalk, they could see Major through a window, talking to two women. The officers knocked several times and announced themselves, telling Major they could see him inside. They said they watched as Major motioned to the women to be quiet and not say anything.

A search warrant was requested and at 4:39 a.m., Judge Dena Martin of Greene Superior Court issued a warrant for the officers to enter and detain Major.

With warrant in hand, Officer Blazier knocked several times loudly and announced himself and informed Major he had a search warrant. Major did not answer the door.

Officer Blazier kicked the front door open and found Major and the two women sitting just inside the front door. Major remained in his chair and allegedly did not comply with instructions. He was escorted to the ground and was taken into custody though reported to be belligerent during the arrest.

Major was booked into the Greene County Jail at 5:15 a.m. His bond was set at $8,000 surety with ten percent cash allowed. He posted $800 and was released later the same day.

Major is accused of:

• Strangulation, a Level 6 felony, and

• Domestic battery, a Class A misdemeanor.

Major is scheduled to appear in Greene Superior Court for his initial hearing next Thursday morning, December 10, but now he’s also wanted on another warrant.

Major has a criminal case pending against him in Monroe County as a result of an incident that occurred on December 2 of 2019. He was arrested, released on bond, and charged with domestic battery resulting in moderate bodily injury, a Level 6 felony, and obstruction of justice, a Level 6 felony.

Major is out on bond in this case which is still undecided.

Following the latest incident and arrest, earlier today, Thursday, December 3, the prosecution in Monroe County filed a motion to revoke bond. The motion was approved, a warrant for his arrest issued today, and when he is in custody, he will be held without bond.
