Officer Heather Wood appointed Interim Town Marshal in Worthington

Deputy Marshal Heather Wood of the Worthington Police Department has been appointed to serve as the Interim Town Marshal following the resignations of Jim O'Malley and Ryan Montgomery from their posts.

Now former Worthington Town Marshal Jim O'Malley submitted his resignation to the Worthington Town Council citing personal reasons and the need to spend more time at home. O'Malley is expected to continue to serve with the WPD as a reserve officer.

Deputy Marshal Ryan Montgomery also submitted his resignation in order to accept other employment.

Earlier today during a special session of the Worthington Town Council, Heather Wood, who has been serving as WPD Deputy Marshal, was appointed to serve as the Interim Town Marshal.

The Worthington Town Council will be accepting applications to fill the open positions and interviews will be held prior to making any permanent appointments as has been the practice of the council in the past.

The Greene County Sheriff's Department is aware the WPD is working short-handed and will be available to respond to calls requiring police action.
