A Greene County Sheriff’s Deputy is accused of operating a vehicle while intoxicated while he was off-duty over the weekend. He was arrested by an ISP trooper last Saturday and has been placed on administrative leave with pay.

Michael Sean Stanley, 27, Linton, was arrested over the weekend by Indiana State Police Master Trooper Eric Nash.

Stanley serves as a deputy with the Greene County Sheriff’s Department.

Last Saturday, September 4, an investigation into a possible case of operating a vehicle while intoxicated began but as soon as the sheriff’s department realized it involved Stanley, the investigation was handed over to the Indiana State Police.

On Tuesday morning, Sheriff Mike Hasler confirmed that Deputy Stanley has been placed on administrative leave with pay pending the results of the investigation. This action is standard procedure.

No other information about the incident or the investigation is available – the investigation is ongoing at this time.

Stanley was booked into the Greene County Jail at 9:18 a.m. on Saturday, September 4, on a preliminary charge of operating a vehicle while intoxicated, a Class C misdemeanor. His bond was set at $4,000 surety with ten percent cash allowed. He posted $400 and was released later the same day.

Stanley is tentatively scheduled to appear in court for an initial hearing on Thursday, September 16.
