STORY with PICTURE GALLERY: National Night Out 2021 filled the park with officers, kids and adults from across Greene County

After a year hiatus due to COVID-19, it was evident Greene County National Night Out was missed as event-goers and event partners filled Linton’s Humphreys Park for this year’s festivities.

“We had a pretty good turnout,” said Linton Police Department Chief Paul Clark. “We estimate the crowd size to be the same as it was in the past. Considering the pandemic, we are really pleased with those numbers.”

Event partners handed out various items to children in attendance such as school supplies, toothbrushes, police officer stickers, firefighter hats, and more. The Linton Masonic Lodge grilled hotdogs, JR Davis Vending supplied chips, and the Indiana Railroad provided bottled water. Other partners handed out popsicles, snocones, and treats to the children in attendance.

The Flyovers and the Dusty Miller Band provided entertainment throughout the evening.

“The bands were amazing,” Clark said.

The Chief said the planning committee is looking forward to beginning planning next year’s event.
