Naked photos on Facebook leads to criminal charge
/A Lyons man is accused of posting inappropriate photos on Facebook, using his own Facebook account. The photos allegedly were taken with his cell phone of a naked woman who did not give her permission for these photos to be shared or posted.
Dane Russell Bolin, 32, Lyons, is being summoned to appear in Greene Superior Court for an initial hearing on a misdemeanor charge. Bolin is accused of distribution of an intimate image, a Class A misdemeanor. This case stems from an ongoing investigation by Sgt. Bobby Pierce of the Greene County Sheriff’s Department.
Sgt. Pierce began his investigation in early December when he talked to the mother of the alleged victim. The mother told Sgt. Pierce she saw naked photos of her daughter posted on Facebook by Bolin. At the time when she talked to Sgt. Pierce, the daughter was incarcerated in the Greene County Jail.
In addition to speaking to the mother, Sgt. Pierce interviewed the alleged victim and obtained screenshots of the photo postings.
Sgt. Pierce reported a long message was posted with the photos which appeared to be directed at the victim, calling her a “confidential informant” and stating that her information would get him five to 10 years.
When the photos in question were shown to the victim, she confirmed they were taken of her. She allegedly said approximately 10 photos of her were taken with Bolin’s cell phone in late October. She admitted she allowed Bolin to take the photos but she did not give him permission to give them to anyone else or post them for public view.
In addition to her confirmation, the photos showed tattoos that matched the woman’s tattoos. The photos allegedly posted on Facebook did not show the woman’s face but showed a woman’s unclothed buttocks and breast and pelvic regions.
Sgt. Pierce reported multiple attempts to locate and speak to Bolin regarding this allegation were unsuccessful.
The summons is an order for Bolin to be in court early February 20.
