Minor injures reported after school bus crash
/Several juveniles were evaluated for minor injuries following a school bus crash Wednesday morning on East Mineral-Koleen Road in Greene County.
According to the Greene County Sheriff’s Office, the crash occurred at approximately 7:23 a.m. on Jan. 7. A school bus operated by Joshua Francis, 45, of Newberry, was traveling west on East Mineral-Koleen Road when the driver lost control while navigating a curve for reasons that remain under investigation.
The bus left the roadway, entered a ditch and traveled down an embankment before coming to rest leaning on its passenger side above a creek.
Francis is a contract bus driver for the Bloomfield School District and was operating a 2013 International school bus at the time of the crash.
According to a press release from the Greene County Sheriff’s Department, the children aboard the bus were safely evacuated prior to law enforcement’s arrival. Several juveniles reported minor injuries and were taken by family members for medical evaluation.
No additional vehicles were involved in the crash.
The incident remains under investigation by the Greene County Sheriff’s Office, with assistance from the Indiana State Police, Bloomfield Police Department and the Bloomfield School District Police Department.
