When a Linton woman was arrested last September as a result of an investigation by the Greene County Drug Task Force, a deputy reported 169 grams of methamphetamine had been thrown out the window of her vehicle during a traffic stop. In Greene Circuit Court last week, she was sentenced to 18 years in the Indiana Women’s Prison with eight years suspended.

Brittany Estella Goodman, 34, Linton, was arrested on Monday, September 7, then charged with dealing in methamphetamine in an amount of 10 or more grams, a Level 2 felony.

Goodman was suspected of dealing methamphetamine in Greene County and was under investigation. Then when she was stopped for driving left of center, then-Deputy Alan Jackson reported seeing an object being thrown from the vehicle before it came to a stop.

In early February, Goodman entered into a negotiated plea agreement with her defense attorney, Greene County Public Defender Ashley Dyer, and Greene County Prosecutor Jarrod Holtsclaw.

During last week’s sentencing hearing, Goodman appeared via Zoom because she was incarcerated at the Clay County Jail. She changed her plea to guilty of dealing methamphetamine, a Level 2 felony.

The terms of the sentencing were fixed by the plea agreement which the court accepted.

Goodman was sentenced to 18 years in the Indiana Women’s Prison of the Indiana Department of Corrections with eight years suspended. She was given credit for 220 days already served. After she serves her time, she will be on supervised probation for eight years.

Judge Erik Allen specified that the sentence in this case will be served consecutive to whatever sentence has been handed down in her felony case in Clay County.
