Jeremiah Daniel Roby was booked into Greene County Jail at 5:19 p.m. on March 28 by Greene County Sheriff’s Department Sgt. Jordan Allor. Roby was arrested on charges of resisting law enforcement using a vehicle, resisting law enforcement, possession of a controlled substance, and criminal mischief.

While on patrol at approximately 3:56 p.m., Sgt. Allor observed a 2008 Chrysler on I St. NE. Due to damage all over the vehicle and a homemade rear window in addition to previous involvements with the vehicle, Allor wrote in the probable cause affidavit he knew the vehicle belonged to Roby. After running the vehicle’s plates, it was confirmed the vehicle did in fact belong to Roby. With the driver’s license check and a check with Greene County Dispatch, Allor was made aware Roby had two active warrants for probation violations – one in Greene County and one in Monroe County.

Allor watched the Chrysler, driven by Roby, travel south on 9th St. NE toward H St. NE. At the intersection, he turned west onto H St. NE. At that time, Sgt. Allor wrote he activated his red and blue lights to conduct a traffic stop. Roby did not comply with Allor’s attempt for a traffic stop and continued driving at a low rate of speed while reaching into the passenger seat. Allor then activated his sirens and informed dispatch the vehicle was not stopping. Roby allegedly continued driving west on H Street NE before turning north onto 6th St. NE – a dead end that ends in a driveway. Roby allegedly drove into the driveway and yard of the 6th St. NE residence. Roby, according to the probable cause, drove over a quarter of a mile with Allor behind him with his lights and sirens activated.

While driving through the yard, Roby’s vehicle got stuck in the soft ground. According to the probable cause affidavit, Roby exited the vehicle and began running north through the yard toward Old Mill Road. Allor, who was dressed in his uniform from the sheriff’s department, exited his vehicle and began a foot pursuit. Allor identified himself as a police officer and told Roby to stop; however, he continued running.

Roby crossed Old Mill Road and ran into the backyard of a residence before changing direction and heading west toward 4th St. NE. According to the probable cause, Allor instructed Roby to stop and get on the ground several times, but he did not comply.

Allor briefly lost sight of Roby but knew he was hiding in the backyard of a 4th St. NE residence. Chief Paul Clark and Officer Davis Aerne of the Linton Police Department and Deputy Caleb Sipes of the Greene County Sheriff’s Department arrived on the scene to assist. While searching the area, Allor wrote in the probable cause, neighbors alerted officers Roby was hiding in a chicken coop. Clark, Aerne, and Sipes located Roby hiding in the rafters of the chicken coop.

While conducting an inventory of Roby’s vehicle, Sgt. Allor located an oval pill that was later identified as Acetaminophen and Hydrocodone Bitartrate, a schedule II controlled substance.

Roby was transported to Greene County Jail where he was initially held without bond; however, at his initial hearing on April 5, bond was set at $25,000 surety with 10 percent allowed.

He is facing charges of:

  • Resisting law enforcement using a vehicle, a Level 6 Felony

  • Resisting law enforcement, a Class A Misdemeanor

  • Possession of a controlled substance, a Class A Misdemeanor

  • Criminal mischief, a Class B Misdemeanor
