Charges were filed against a man who allegedly intimidated and battered a woman in Jasonville last fall and a summons was issued, but he was a no-show at his initial hearing in January and a warrant was issued for his arrest. At some point he landed in jail in another county and last Friday, he was transferred into the Greene County Jail.

Russell Lee Alsman, 33, was booked into jail at 11:28 a.m. on Friday, March 12. Records show he was transported from the Gibson County Jail. Court records last fall showed Alsman with a home address in Vincennes, now they show his home address is in Henderson, Kentucky.

The charges resulted from an investigation by Officer Jacob Gambill of the Jasonville Police Department into an incident that occurred on Saturday, October 31.

Officer Gambill was dispatched to a residence on South Meridian Street in Jasonville for a domestic involving a battery. A woman there said Alsman had grabbed her by the arm causing her pain and leaving marks.

Three people told Officer Gambill they had been out trick or treating when Alsman sent one of them a message that he was moving his things out after being told to leave. When they got back, Alsman was still there, then left, then returned. He was gone when the officer arrived.

When one of the three told Alsman several times to leave, he allegedly grabbed the woman by the arm and one of the others had to pry Alsman’s hand off the woman. Then while the woman was calling police, Alsman allegedly told her he was going to kill her.

Officer Gambill attempted to locate Alsman but was unsuccessful.

The summons ordered Alsman to appear in court on January 11. After he failed to appear, a warrant was issued on January 12.

Now that Alsman’s in custody in Greene County, when his initial hearing is scheduled, he will be formally charged with: Battery resulting in bodily injury, a Class A misdemeanor, and intimidation, a Class A misdemeanor.
