A Jasonville man, accused of belligerent behavior while being treated in the emergency room, allegedly made numerous threats, then after he was arrested, kicked an officer in the ribs on the way to jail.

Dylan Jacob Pedrey, 19, Jasonville was arrested early Sunday morning by Sgt. Logan Hobbs of the Linton Police Department.

Sgt. Hobbs was dispatched to Greene County General Hospital around 1:30 a.m. last Sunday, April 7, on the report of a fight in the parking lot. When Hobbs, assisted by LPD Officers John Agan and Homer Abrams, arrived, there was no physical fight in the lot but they learned Pedrey, who had allegedly been drinking, had been brought to the emergency room due to his level of intoxication and a fear that he might harm himself.

While there, hospital personnel reported Pedrey had become belligerent and they told Sgt. Hobbs they did not believe Pedrey could safely leave the hospital due to his level of intoxication.

When officers went into his room and Sgt. Hobbs informed him he was going to be arrested for illegal possession of alcohol, Pedrey allegedly made numerous threats against Hobbs and he kept trying to get up and leave the hospital.

After Pedrey was medically cleared, he was placed in Officer Agan’s patrol vehicle to be transported to the sheriff’s department but Sgt. Hobbs reported he rode along due to Pedrey’s combative state.

On the way to jail, Pedrey allegedly was able to unbuckle his seatbelt more than once, so Sgt. Hobbs got into the back seat with Pedrey. When Pedrey attempted to unbuckle the seat belt again, and Hobbs pushed his hand away, he reported that Pedrey shifted in his seat then kicked Hobbs in the ribs.

After they made it to the jail, Pedrey was booked in and his bond was set at $9,500 surety with ten percent cash allowed.

A criminal case has been filed against him on preliminary charges of:

• Battery against a public safety official, a Level 6 felony,

• Intimidation, a Level 6 felony

• Resisting law enforcement – knowingly or intentionally forcibly resists, a Class A misdemeanor, and

• Illegal possession of an alcoholic beverage, a Class C misdemeanor.
