Billy D Stines

Billy D. Stines, 53, Linton, was arrested by Officer Cayden Walker of the Linton Police Department early last Thursday, November 25.

Officer Walker was on patrol around 4 a.m. Thursday near Humphreys Park on State Road 54 in Linton when he saw a moped without headlights or taillights. He initiated a traffic stop in the area of Chuckles gas station. The moped stopped in a parking lot. LPD Officer Bobby Pierce also stopped to assist. Stines was the operator of the moped.

According to Officer Walker, Stines appeared to be very nervous and Officer Pierce asked him why and also asked for consent to search his person and the moped. Stines agreed.

Officer Walker reported Stines was in possession of a plant material that appeared to be marijuana and a smoking device with a residue of green plant material. A small baggie containing a white crystal substance was found in a wallet in a seat compartment of the moped. The crystal substance field-tested positive as methamphetamine.

Stines was taken into custody and booked into the Greene County Jail at 4:45 a.m. He was being held without bond pending court appearance. As of late Tuesday, Nov. 30, he was still in jail.

Stines is facing charges of:

  • Possession of methamphetamine, a Level 6 felony,

  • Possession of paraphernalia, a Class C misdemeanor, and

  • Possession of marijuana, a Class B misdemeanor.
