Man arrested on three felony charges after battering pregnant woman

A warrant was served March 9 on a 18-year-old Lebanon man after he allegedly confined, strangled, and battered a pregnant woman.

Linton Police Department Officer Jerrad Pirtle arrested Brayden Larry Lynn Rowland on March 9 on a warrant that was issued Feb. 21 from Greene Circuit Court. He faces charges of criminal confinement where a vehicle is used, a Level 5 Felony; strangulation, when the victim is pregnant, a Level 5 Felony; and domestic battery with bodily injury to a pregnant woman, a Level 5 Felony.

Linton Police Department Det. Logan Hobbs was dispatched to a 1st Street Southwest residence in Linton on Feb. 20. During an interview with the victim, she told Hobbs she wasn’t feeling well at work and called someone – who will be referred to as witness 1 to pick her up.

The victim, according to the probable cause affidavit, is pregnant – something Rowland is aware of.

According to the probable cause affidavit, Rowland was upset that the victim had gotten a ride from witness 1. After arriving in Linton, the victim alleged she got into Rowland’s car and began driving erratically. She said she attempted to exit the vehicle, but Rowland grabbed her shirt collar, confining her in the vehicle.

Upon arriving at her residence, the victim said Rowland parked the vehicle and she attempted to flee the area. According to the probable cause affidavit, she exited the vehicle and began running down the road. She alleged Rowland grabbed her by the right wrist and drug her back to the house. She said while he was dragging her, she tried to scream to wake the neighbors. Photographs were taken of injuries sustained to the victim’s elbows, according to the probable cause affidavit.

The victim said she attempted to leave the residence; however, Rowland confined her inside a bedroom. According to a probable cause affidavit, Rowland pushed the victim’s head into a wall causing a bruise and a goose egg to her forehead. The victim alleged Rowland used both of his hands to apply pressure to her neck, obstructing her breathing.

The victim alleged she had spoken with Rowland via text and he was apologetic, according to the probable cause affidavit. Rowland was unavailable for interview as the victim said he left and went to the Indianapolis area.

Rowland was arrested March 9 and transported to Greene County Jail where his bond was set at $30,000 surety with 10% cash allowed.

He appeared in Greene Circuit Court March 12 for his initial hearing.
