Warrant issued after battery by pan

A warrant has been issued for a Jasonville man after an Aug. 2 incident when he allegedly struck a female in the head with a metal pan resulting in a concussion and retina damage.

On Aug. 30, a warrant was issued for the arrest of Brandon Hill. According to a probable cause affidavit written by Deputy Michael Coy of the Greene County Sheriff’s Department, a female victim said Hill had been in his room and refused to come out. She went to his room to try to talk him into coming out of his room and he told her to get out. She said she took one step towards Hill and he yelled not to touch him.

The victim further stated that Hill attacked her with a metal pan, striking her in the head. Deputy Stanley observed a large lump above the victim’s right eye. The victim said she had a billy club with her — because Hill can be violent — and struck him with the club. This caused an approximate two-inch laceration above his left eye. She said after she struck him with the club, he began repeatedly punching her.

Deputy Stanley followed up with the victim on Aug. 7. She said she had gone to Sullivan County Hospital and was diagnosed with a concussion and was scheduled to see an eye specialist for a damaged retina. Medical records were requested by Deputy Stanley.

A witness at the scene said the victim went upstairs to attempt to get Hill to leave his bedroom. She said Hill picked up a pot and struck the victim with it. The witness said she pulled Hill’s hair to try to get him off the victim. The victim, according to the witness, was yelling for Hill to stop as he was hitting her.

The witness said they had locked all the doors as Hill had exited the residence. Deputy Stanley saw Hill running into a wooded area, but he came back. Stanley attempted to talk to Hill, but he would not answer questions verbally, only by head shakes. Hill didn’t always answer Stanley’s questions. Stanley asked Hill if his head hurt or if he was dizzy or sick to  which he shook his head no.

Upon arrest and initial court appearance, Hill will be charged with battery resulting in moderate bodily injury, a level 6 felony.
