A Lyons man was taken into custody this week on two outstanding warrants issued in separate incidents. Between the two cases, he’s accused of lying to a deputy, driving while suspended, entering a home and busting through a door, ramming a vehicle and leaving the scene.

Coty Lee Parsley, 27, Lyons, was arrested by Deputy Harvey Holt of the Greene County Sheriff’s Department on Wednesday, February 19, on two warrants for Parsley’s arrest that were issued in two unrelated cases.

In one case, investigated by GCSD Deputy Zachary Goad, a warrant was issued in mid-December as a result of incidents that occurred on December 5. That warrant has remained outstanding until Parsley’s arrest this week.

When Parsley appeared in Greene Superior Court for an initial hearing yesterday, Thursday, December 20, he was formally charged with:

• Residential entry – breaking and entering dwelling, a Level 6 felony,

• Criminal mischief, a Class B misdemeanor, and

• Leaving the scene of an accident, a Class B misdemeanor.

Parsley allegedly entered the home of a Lyons resident on December 5 where Parsley’s ex-girlfriend was with another man in the resident’s bedroom. Parsley is accused of busting through the bedroom door, possibly punching the man and in the altercation, damaging things in the residence including breaking a bedroom window.

Later the same day, Deputy Goad responded to a report of another altercation involving Parsley that occurred on State Road 67 between Lyons and Switz City. At that time, Parsley’s ex-girlfriend was a passenger in a car driven on the highway by a female friend when Parsley got behind the car then passed it, then stopped on the highway. When the car drove around Parsley’s vehicle, Parsley allegedly rammed the car causing damage to the front fender and door on the passenger side.

After the warrant was issued in this case, Parsley was scheduled to appear in court on January 8 for a change of plea and sentencing hearing in an unrelated case. He didn’t show. Another warrant was issued for failure to appear.

In that earlier case, Parsley was accused of lying to GCSD Deputy James Carpenter during an investigation into a domestic dispute between other individuals. Parsley admitted he gave one of the individuals a ride from Lyons to Linton after the dispute then said the individual walked off when they got to Walmart. Deputy Carpenter said video surveillance from the store showed Parsley arrived with the individual and left with the individual. Deputy Carpenter also said the video showed Parsley driving a vehicle while his license was suspended.

In the earlier case, Parsley was charged with false informing resulting in substantial hindrance to a law enforcement procedure, a Class A misdemeanor, and driving while suspended – a knowing violation with a prior conviction, a Class A misdemeanor.

The change of plea and sentencing hearing has now been rescheduled for February 26.

As of Friday morning, February 21, Parsley was still in the Greene County Jail where his bond in each case is set at $5,000 surety with ten percent cash allowed.
