Lyons man accused of domestic battery on family member

After talking to several people on the scene of a domestic disturbance, a deputy arrested a Lyons man accused of battery on a family member.

Jacob Cole Epperson

Jacob Cole Epperson, 19, Lyons, was arrested by Deputy James Carpenter of the Greene County Sheriff’s Department last Thursday morning, February 17.

Deputy Carpenter was dispatched at 10:11 a.m. last Thursday to a residence on West Prairie Street in Lyons for an “unruly subject.” After he arrived, he talked to several people including one witness who said Epperson was in a van getting ready to go to town with a family member, another individual and a small child when Epperson and the family member got into an argument and Epperson jumped over the infant to jump into the front seat. The family member yelled at Epperson then went back inside the residence. Epperson allegedly followed and threw the family member to the ground, got over the top of them and threatened to beat them up. The family member grabbed Epperson by the throat and another witness dragged Epperson off.

After interviewing all on the scene, Epperson was arrested and transported to the Greene County Jail where he was booked in at 10:54 a.m. His bond was set at $1,000 surety with ten percent cash allowed. He posted $100 and was released later the same day.

Epperson is scheduled to be in Greene Superior Court for an initial hearing next week on a charge of domestic battery, a Class A misdemeanor.
